“The Bear” -Inspired Dish Hits No. 1 on Personal Chef App Shmeal
New Review for this meal: “It’s tremendous chef.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lakeview, Chicago, August 31, 2022 – Chef Karen Forsberg’s meal inspired by the new Hulu show, The Bear, on Shmeal is now the best-selling dish in Chicago on the personal chef service Shmeal. Shmeal, a Chicago-based startup, connects customers with personal chefs in their neighborhood, many of whom are former restaurant professionals turned personal chefs following the pandemic, like Chef Karen.
Before serving her neighbors on Shmeal, Chef Karen worked as a chef for Lettuce Entertain you for 11 years and as a personal chef to celebrities in her hometown of Los Angeles – and competed on various Food Network shows including Guy’s Grocery Games. When the pandemic hit, Chef Karen found herself on unemployment.
“I found Shmeal at just the right time,” said Forsberg. “I’m having a lot of fun serving meals that I love to my neighborhood.”

She says watching The Bear has been stressful but fun.
“Last week I was watching The Bear, and I connected with the story of Chef Sydney. I’ve worked in so many kitchens like that. In this industry, you really have to fight to get recognized for your talents, especially as a woman.”
“The story of that short rib really resonated with me, and I said, ‘I know what my next Shmeal is.’”

Chef Karen made an award-winning risotto when she was head chef of La Casina Dei Tigli in Tuscany. She’s pictured here with her friend, Chef Carmine Carboni, in Tuscany.
She promises this dish comes with an appropriately “loose” sauce, and a delightful “ribbon of brine,” especially for fans of the show.
