Q: How did you first learn to cook and what’s your cooking background?
Danyea: I learned how to cook when I was about 10 years old. My parents had split up and my mom was having a difficult time with that emotionally so I tried anything I could to help her be happy. It ended up being cooking, and I was awesome at it. I knew I wanted to be a chef that young, so as soon as I graduated high school I got my Associates degree in Culinary Arts and made being a chef my happily ever after.
Q: What do you like to eat?
Danyea: I love noodles! Italian, Asian, it doesn’t matter. Next to that is Vietnamese food. But Noodles are life!
Q: Where did you grow up? What kind of food did you grow up with?
Danyea: I grew up in the Bay Area in California. It’s so diverse where I grew up at, I’m 90% sure I have eaten almost any cuisine you can think of.
Q: Anything else we should know about you and your cooking?
Danyea: I believe that food is a universal language and love. It brings people together from all aspects of life. We all have to eat, and if there’s good food around you’ll attract all different types of people. Dishes originate all over the world from different countries. Whether the person eating it realizes it or not, they may be experiencing someone else’s culture. And to me that brings us all a bit closer together. I’m happy and proud to be apart of that.
