Q: How did you first learn to cook and what’s your cooking background?
Gabi: I learned to cook from a lot of different people and phases of my life. I spent some time working in a restaurant in college, but I’ve also spent a lot of time in the kitchen with friends and family from different cultures, mostly chatting and laughing over wine but occasionally picking up some really good recipes along the way.
Q: What’s your favorite dish to cook and why?
Gabi: My favorite dish changes all the time. It’s kind of like asking “what kind of music do you listen to” – it just depends on my mood. Right now I’m into really comforting foods- really hearty soups, homemade pasta, anything that warms you up from the inside out.
Q: What do you think about when you cook that dish, or when you cook in general?
Gabi: One of my favorite parts of cooking is that it’s one of the few activities that you can be focused and totally zoned out at the same time. I like to just lose myself in the process and not think about anything but what I’m doing.
Q: Anything else we should know about you and your cooking?
Gabi: I love when people love my food! I am always experimenting in the kitchen for myself but it makes it so much better when someone enjoys something I made.
