Q: What’s your cooking background?

Sonali: My passion for food comes from my family. Growing up, food has been an essential part of my day and now it is a part of my career. My family owns two successful Indian restaurants in Chicago and I’ve recently joined them in this endeavor!

Sonali: Additionally, I’m about to pursue my professional culinary arts certificate from Kendall College in Chicago. I love to cook Indian meals and am constantly inspired by my fiancé, family, and friends to try to create new recipes!

Q: What can you tell us about the dish you made?

Sonali: This is a Punjabi recipe consisting of kidney beans, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, garlic, ginger, tamarind paste, and spices! Served with basmati rice.

Q: Where did you grow up and what kind of food did you grow up with?

Sonali: I grew up in Naperville, Illinois and I grew up eating Indian food and exploring other cuisines Chicago has to offer!
