Q: How did you first learn to cook and what’s your cooking background?
Ty: I’ve been cooking since the age of 10. However, I never really started to pay attention to recipes until I was about 16 years old. So, I’ve been cooking in the game about 15+ years strong.

Q: What can you tell us about the dish you’re making and what inspired it?
Ty: I LOVE Mexican food and I’m a non meat eater so this favorite dish always makes me happy. When I make this dish, I think of my last trip to Mexico City DF and how amazing spending NYE there was.

Q: Where did you grow up and what kind of food did you grow up with?
Ty: I grew up on Chicago’s northside in Lakeview. I was exposed to all sorts of food at a young age. Chinese, Thai and Italian primarily.
Q: What’s your favorite food memory?
Ty: Cooking in the kitchen with my Aunts for Thanksgiving.
Q: Anything else we should know about you and your cooking?
Ty: I cook with my heart. Every single meal. Color makes a difference to me and taste of course is the best!
